Australian startup Heidi Health has raised another $16.6 million in Series A funding from a round led by Headline. The follow-on investing round was also joined by Local Globe, Anthology (Menlo Ventures and Anthropic), as well as existing investors Blackbird, HESTA, Possible Ventures and Archangel Ventures.

Formerly Oscer, Heidi relaunched in 2024 with a customisable AI-powered clinical productivity tool that automates many administrative tasks. Its AI scribe can also be applied in other clinical settings beyond primary care, including emergency departments and surgical theatres.

WHAT IT'S FOR

In a statement, Heidi said it will use its fresh funds to expand the capabilities of its AI beyond scribing. New features expected include pre-chart summary creation, access to clinical guidelines, and ability to engage patients outside the clinic.

THE LARGER TREND

Heidi first raised A$10 million ($6.5 million) in Series A funding in November 2023, which supported the launch of its AI scribe in February 2024. Since then, its product has supported over a million consults weekly.

"In just one year, they're already facilitating one million consultations weekly across five countries, which far outstrips other AI scribe offerings," claimed Taylor Brandt, a partner at Headline, one of Heidi's latest investors.

Heidi's AI scribe, which fully complies with region-specific privacy and data security regulations, is adopted by some large health networks and health systems, including Modality Partnership in the United Kingdom, Beth Israel in Massachusetts, United States, ForHealth in Australia, and Tamaki Health in New Zealand.

Heidi's AI also powers a newly launched clinical documentation tool by Telstra Health, Telstra Scribe, on MedicalDirector.
