Offcall, a platform focused on helping physicians with their careers and finances, has launched with $2 million in funding from Bloomberg Beta, Roar Ventures and 26 practicing physicians nationwide.
Physicians who participated in the round include Dr. Shiv Rao, founder and CEO of AI-enabled medical documentation company Abridge; Dr. Joseph Habboushe, CEO and cofounder of MDCalc; and Dr. Cheri Blauwet, paralympian and sports medicine physician.
WHAT IT DOES
The San Francisco-based company aims to reduce burnout among physicians by assisting them with career and financial challenges. It offers free access to job and compensation data, tools and resources on finances and careers, and a community platform that allows them to connect with their peers.
Offcall says it plans to expand its offerings over time to include career-navigation tools that will allow physicians to compare and understand their employment and financial options, seek professional opportunities tailored to their preferences, and advocate for themselves.
"By focusing squarely on physicians' financial health, Offcall is tackling one of the leading causes of burnout nationwide," Jake Horowitz, Offcall cofounder and CEO, said in a statement.
"Our goal is to instill greater transparency and more autonomy for physicians, and by doing so, we will not only help physicians find more fulfillment in their jobs, we will also foster healthier relationships between physicians and their employers – creating a more sustainable and win-win approach for the future of medicine."
