Virtual care company Teladoc Health announced the expansion of its connected care partnerships across new categories, including digestive health, centers of excellence, fertility and family building.
The company announced technology integrations aimed at helping Teladoc Health’s care providers and coaches view members’ eligibility for these services and refer them to appropriate partner programs at the point of care.
Teladoc Health’s app provides a single sign-on that steers members directly to partners’ services, and the developments are part of Teladoc Health’s integrated care segment plan.
In a statement, the company said the provider platform capabilities can support referrals to the appropriate partner services based on the individual member’s benefits coverage and unique needs.
Teladoc Health is also expanding its existing partnerships with Hinge Health and Sword Health for musculoskeletal (MSK) care, and new partners include:
● Carrot Fertility: A platform for employers to provide expanded access to care from maternity to menopause and pre-pregnancy through parenting.
● Carrum Health: Offers a value-based platform that allows self-funded employers to buy specialty care, focusing on surgical and cancer care. Its digital platform gives patients access to a care specialist who guides them through the surgical process and employers a platform for navigating Carrum's network.
● Cylinder Health: Provides personalized, clinician-backed care for the full spectrum of digestive issues, delivered through a virtual health platform as an employer-sponsored benefit.
● Oshi Health: Gives patients with gastrointestinal issues virtual access to a team of providers, including a gastroenterologist, behavioral health clinician, dietitian and health coach.
"We know that customers and members are looking for new ways to connect multi-condition healthcare needs across a growing ecosystem of solutions," Kelly Bliss, Teladoc Health president of U.S. group health, said in a statement.
"Not only are we connecting our customers and members to best-in-class partners, but we’re also delivering a truly integrated experience, all on the innovative, industry-leading Teladoc Health app that they already trust for primary care, cardiometabolic care, mental health and complex needs."
THE LARGER TREND
In February, Teladoc reported its 2024 full-year revenue and Q4 2024 financial results, citing a 1% decrease year-over-year in 2024 revenue at $2.569 billion compared to $2.6 billion in 2023.
The company also reported a 3% decrease in Q4 2024 revenue to $640 million from Q4 2023 revenue of $660.5 million in Q4 2023.
Teladoc's net loss was $1 billion in 2024, compared to $220 million in 2023. Additionally, the company lost $48.4 million in the fourth quarter of last year, compared to $28.89 million in Q4 2023.
That same month, Teladoc acquired virtual preventative care company Catapult Health in a deal worth $65 million. The acquisition included an additional $5 million in contingent earnout consideration, which meant that Teladoc agreed to pay additional cash or provide equity interests to Catapult should certain events occur after the sale.
Teladoc said the acquisition supports its integrated care segment strategy, which includes growing its members and services, expanding internationally and advancing its mental health offerings.
In 2024, Teladoc partnered with pediatric virtual behavioral health company Brightline to extend mental healthcare options for children, adolescents and their families through Teladoc's platform. Via the partnership, members under 18 and their caregivers have gained access to Brightline's mental healthcare solutions for a wide range of conditions through Teladoc's virtual "front door."
